Artistic Director/ Project Coordinator

Zirkusviertel is looking for an Artistic Director/Project Coordinator in Bremen (Germany).

Full description:

The Zirkusviertel has been active in the field of socio-cultural education for children and young people for over 10 years. Around 250 people of different ages and backgrounds train and perform here every week. It is a place for children, young people and families to engage with the diversity of circus in courses, holiday camps, workshops and projects. In our work, we emphasize a good balance between circus education and circus arts. In addition to artistic skills, we teach values such as team spirit, trust, self-confidence and self-organization.

From February 2024 (possibly earlier), we are looking for an employee for a cultural project to coordinate and accompany groups of children and young people, mainly in the afternoon, but also for weekends, project weeks, and holiday camps. Are you musically inclined, trained in theatre or dance? Do you have pedagogical skills and at the same time an eye for coordinating many interests?

As part of the project, shows dedicated to contemporary circus will be developed together with children and young people from our regular courses. Circus artistry will be combined with themes and stories from the participants and complemented by music, dance and/or theatre. Together with the participants and their group leaders, you will accompany and coordinate the show rehearsals and performances. We have a network of artists who can assist the project if required.

We expect…

  • Independent work, reliability and a sense of responsibility
  • Commitment and enjoyment in working with children
  • Empathy for the special circumstances of children and young people
  • Interpersonal skills, openness and the ability to reflect
  • Willingness to work in a team and to further develop your own skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially in the afternoon
  • Knowledge of the German language
  • Creativity and ability to improvise

We offer…

  • Temporary employment for 15 – 18 weekly hours for 1 year with the possibility of extension
  • Challenging and varied work with the support of an experienced team
  • Reflection on your own work
  • Regular collegial counselling, further training
  • Space to realize your own ideas
  • An experienced team in the cross-section between artistry & circus pedagogy
  • Appropriate payment
