6 Degrees of Freedom

WHEN: Thu 13 – Sat 15 Feb 2025

WHERE: National Centre for Circus Arts

The National Centre for Circus Arts presents its BA3 students’ final year ensemble production directed by one of the National Centre’s core movement and composition teachers Neus Gil Cortes. As a teacher, choreographer and Artistic Director of Nua Dance company, Neus draws from her extensive dance background, circus and visual arts to put the artists at the centre of her creations tackling issues facing the modern world.

In this performance, Neus explores limitations we see and experience not being what they seem – finding the levers that can unlock the true potential of the human spirit.

Join us for what promises to be an exploration into how contemporary circus can embody our need for connection, community, and fearlessness.

Recommended for ages 11+

From the Director

What if the structures we live in aren’t as fixed as they seem?

What if every constraint holds within it a thread of possibility, waiting to be pulled?

6 Degrees of Freedom invites you to step into a space where movement challenges the immovable. Where cracks in the surface let in light. Where enough small pushes—together—could shift everything.

This show explores resistance, individuality, and the endless human drive to play, to care, and to keep trying. It’s about failure as an act of rebellion and persistence as a spark for change.

Can circus speak to the world we live in? We think so. And we think you’ll feel it too.
