About
Contact Improvisation (CI) is a practice and performance art in its own right and forms an integral role to all circus training. It builds coordination of movement with another body and the environment. In these classes we will learn to control weight shifts and flow when moving together and solo. It is an acrobatic movement practice that involves rolls, inversions and touch. CI offers transferable skill to other acrobatic disciplines and builds a whole-body connectivity, strength and fluidity in motion.
Suitable for beginners and those with some experience. The form adapts to a range of technical skills wherein, at every level, you are able to link a variety of moves together through a call and response scenario. Every class will offer short sequences and give space for explorations with partners.
Who’s it for
This Level 1/ 2 course is the place to start or continue a practice. You don’t need to have experience of circus or dance but enjoy playful explorations that develop your fitness. It will help you gain confidence with other circus or partner movement practices.
